Update: The motorway has been reopened. Update: The sole occupant of the car that rolled is dead at the scene.
The deceased is male, he was thrown from the car when it rolled. The crash is in the northbound lane.
The motorway is closed between Princess Street on-ramp and Mt Wellington Highway off-ramp.
Northbound traffic are diverted off the motorway at Otahuhu and back on at Mt Wellington. The serious Crash Unit is examining the scene. Police and other emergency services are one their way to a serious crash on the Southern Motorway about 100m north of the Mount Wellington off-ramp.
The crash was first reported at 12.13am.
A car hit a truck and rolled as a result.
One person was thrown from the car and is laying on the road.
Lanes 2 and 3 are blocked. I will send an update when information becomes available
