Life’s a bed of roses – the Parnell Festival of Roses

Say goodbye to the gloom of winter and hello to the bloom of summer by celebrating the annual Parnell Festival of Roses on November 19.

Thanks to the green fingers of gardeners, grounds keepers and volunteers, Dove-Myer Robinson Park’s thousands of roses should be at their best for the 24th festival.

One of Waitematā Local Board’s flagship events, member Richard Northey says after almost a quarter of a century, the festival has become a much-anticipated part of Parnell’s calendar. “It’s an event that celebrates what a vibrant community we have. The numbers that come show how special the gardens are to people, and every year the entertainment provided makes the festival perfect for families.”

Like all the events Waitematā Local Board supports, the Parnell Festival of Roses is smoke free, and aspires to have zero waste. “Everyone is welcome. We have audio activities for the vision-impaired from 10.30am – 12.30pm, sign language interpreters, accessible toilets, and reserved mobility parking.”

This year’s festival features children’s activities, music, demonstrations, crafts, food, and back again, a canine cuddles corner with adoptable dogs from shelters.

Mobility spaces need to be booked by emailing: parnellroses@aklc.govt.nz

Sign and audio tours via audiodescribedaotearoa@gmail.com or 021 035 8513.
