Also this week:
• Open/closed schedule between Peketa and Goose Bay south of Kaikoura: Further essential rockface work in this section is required before SH1 re-opens to the public on Friday 15 December 2017. From Monday 11 December to Thursday 14 December (inclusive) SH1 between Peketa and Goose Bay will be closed to the public. Daily local-only convoys will still run at the regular times each day. Check out the back page of the Bulletin for further information. The Waiau/Mt Lyford Inland Road (Route 70) is open 24/7 for access to and from Kaikoura during next week’s SH1 south closures, and currently has a shorter travel time.
• The NZ Transport Agency have confirmed that SH1 north of Kaikoura will open during the afternoon of the 15 December. You can read more here.
• The NZ Transport Agency have confirmed and explained freight usage and restrictions on SH1 between Picton and Christchurch when it reopens on 15 December. You can read more here.
