Name release following fatal Waimate crash

Police are now in a position to release the names of two people who died following a crash on the Waimate Highway on Tuesday 26 December.

The two people who died were Horton James Hill, aged 80 of Christchurch and 31-year-old Matthew James Gilchrist of Oamaru.

The investigation by the Serious Crash Unit and Waimate Police into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.

Police offer their sympathies to the friends and family of the deceased at this tragic time.
