Graduation of Wing 312 today at RNZPC, the Sir Mark Solomon Wing


Fifty nine new constables from Wing 312 will graduate from The Royal New Zealand Police College today, Thursday 8 March.

Wing Patron Sir Mark Solomon will be at the graduation ceremony as well as Police Commissioner Mike Bush and Minister of Police, Stuart Nash.

The wing is made up of 19 women and 40 men, the youngest is 18 and oldest 54.

Wing 312 has behind them an impressive list of previous qualifications and careers.

Constable Timothy Emery has a private pilot license and Edison Dumo has an MBA and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.

Constable Chelsea Warman competed as a weightlifter at the 2015 Olympics and Kyla MacKenzie is a two-time international cheerleading champion.

There is also a family connection to Police, Constable Louise Piper is the daughter of Christchurch Sergeant Paul Piper.

Louise has also worked on the production team for a number of television shows including Dog Squad and four of the graduating recruits have a military background.

Awards

The Commissioner’s Award for Leadership, which recognises outstanding potential to lead self and others, is being awarded to Constable Robyn Smith who is being posted to Waitemata.

The Patron’s Award, which recognises the second top student after the collation of all course assessments, is being awarded to Constable Liam Neems who is being posted to Counties Manukau.

The Minister’s Award, which recognises the top student after the collation of all course assessments, is being awarded to Constable Craig Muir who is being posted to Northland.

The official ceremony starts at 2pm and media are invited to arrive anytime from 1.20pm onwards.
