Arrests made in relation to Dunedin robberies

"Arrests made in relation to Dunedin robberies "

Dunedin Police have made arrests in relation to three recent aggravated robberies.

A man, aged 27, and two women, aged 19 and 20, were arrested following a search warrant, assisted by the Armed Offenders Squad, at a Tomahawk Road address today.

They are due to appear in Dunedin District Court on Friday 20 July on a variety of charges, including aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary.

The warrant was executed as part of the investigation into three aggravated robberies at local dairies — the Musselburgh Food Centre on 7 June, the Stadium Store on 15 July and the Elgin Road Food Market on 16 July.

Police recovered items thought to be connected to the robberies, including a firearm.

“Being a victim or even a witness to these serious crimes is extremely traumatic and they also have an impact on the wider community,” Detective Sergeant Dylan Ross says.

“That’s why a team of officers — from numerous work groups within the Otago Coastal Police team — have been dedicated to this investigation.

“Today’s arrests are a great result and Police would like to thank the public for their assistance.”
