Thursday evening incident in Invercargill

Attribute to Acting Inspector Peter Graham:

Police would like to reassure the public after an incident in Invercargill late last night.

Around 10:10pm on Thursday 19 July, Police received a number of calls from the public reporting multiple gunshots heard in the McQuarrie Street area.

Cordons were immediately set up and the address where the gunshots came from was identified.

No one was injured as a result.

This incident is not related to the shooting on Kelvin Street on 30 June.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the person responsible for the shooting last night however Police are following strong lines of enquiry.

Two people were arrested at the scene in relation to other matters.

Police would like to thank the community for their assistance and ask that anyone with further information contact Detective Cook on 03 211 0400.
