Coastlands Aquatic Centre turns five

Kāpiti Coast District Council and Coastlands Aquatic Centre in Paraparaumu will be celebrating the centre’s fifth birthday all week from 6-11 August and they are inviting the community to join in on the fun.

Parks and Recreation Manager Alison Law says that the Aquatics Centre customer numbers over the years show how much the centre has grown with the community’s exercise, recreation, and social needs.

“Since opening our doors in 2013, we’ve hosted over 1,078,144 people at our facility - and sold 111,065 water slide passes.

“Our classes have evolved over the years, too. We’ve delivered 106,789 learn-to-swim lessons, and 47,992 fitness buffs have enjoyed the health benefits of our aquafit classes.”

Ms Law says that marking the Aquatics Centre’s birthday with a splash is an opportunity to remind the community how many services are on offer locally, accessible to all.

“Besides the pools, sauna, spa and waterslide, the centre also has many water-based classes from learning to swim for all ages and abilities, through to AquaYoga and AquaFit. We host kids’ birthday parties in our cafe, and bring out the large inflatables for the kids for the weekends and school holidays.”

There are a ream of birthday deals on offer all week at the Aquatic Centre. For a complete schedule of events, check out https://www.kapiticoast.govt.nz/whats-on/kapiti-coast-aquatics/coastlands-aquatic-centre
