Two further arrests in operation targeting Comanchero gang

Police have arrested two more people following the termination of a year-long investigation into the activities of the Comanchero Motorcycle Gang.

Police carried out search warrants at ten properties throughout the Auckland region last Thursday, and a further two search warrants were executed on Monday.

About $4 million worth of assets were seized and nine people, including a New Zealand national living in Sydney, have since been arrested.

Yesterday, another person was arrested as part of Operation Nova, which has targeted senior members of the Comanchero gang, as well as a number of professionals who allegedly aided them.

A 40-year-old man was charged with money laundering and possession of a Class A drug for supply.

He appeared in the Auckland District Court yesterday.

This morning, Police arrested a patched Comanchero member.

The 34-year-old man will appear in the Auckland District Court today on drugs and money laundering charges.

The investigation is ongoing and Police cannot rule out further charges or arrests.

National Organised Crime Group’s Detective Inspector Paul Newman says Police are committed to ensuring organised crime groups do not flourish in this country.

“We are also determined to hold the professionals, who are being increasingly relied on by gangs to hide the origin of their drug money, to account.”

As the matter is now before the courts, Police are not in a position to comment further.
