Tranz Rail crews are working through the night to clear the
wreckage of a goods train, truck-and-trailer collision near
Pukekohe, south Auckland.
The train struck the truck,
which was carrying potatoes, on a level crossing this
afternoon.
No one was hurt in the collision which saw 20
carriages filled with coal, destined for Glenbrook
Steelmill, hurtle from the tracks after ploughing into the
trailer unit attached to the truck.
Tranz Rail is reported
as stating the lights and bells were working at the time of
the
accident.
