Councillors and Mayor Under Siege |
||
by Selwyn Manning -
Under Siege - A group is proposing to boycott businesses owned by Auckland City’s mayor and three councillors over their having failed to disolve Metrowater.
New tariffs will be considered this month which will examine reducing Metrowater’s fixed wastewater charge from $250 to $50 - on top of its current user pays regime.
Water Pressure Group spokesperson, Penny Bright, says the Mayor and some councillors have abandoned their campaign and election promises of dumping Metrowater.
Newly Elected councillors found legal contracts surrounding Metrowater, and the said White Elephant, Britomart development, entered into by the previous Auckland City Council would be too costly to withdrawal from.
Ms Bright says the boycott is a form of comeback
against them.
