Titanic Voyage Exhibition At Cup Village

Auckland City Council - City Scene

An exhibition, tracing the voyage of the Titanic and history of the White Star Line is to open at the American Express New Zealand Cup Village on August 28 and will run until October 3. Over 600 rare artefacts and memorabilia from the ship, survivors’ stories, replica costumes from the 1997 movie ‘Titanic’, film footage taken in 1912 and a replica scale model will comprise the spectacular exhibition.

The sinking of the ‘Titanic’ on her maiden voyage on 15 April 1912 was the worst maritime disaster this century. Four days into her voyage from Southampton to New York ,the ship hit an iceberg and sank two and half miles to the ocean floor - 1,523 passengers and crew perished

A special exhibit will be the ‘Love of the Sea Necklace,’ which was the artefact which inspired the movie.
