Vladimir Putin To Represent Russia At APEC

The Russian news agency ITAR-Tass is reporting the acting Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will attend next month’s APEC summit meeting in Auckland.

Russian President Boris Yeltsin has signed a decree which orders Mr Putin to represent Russia at the conference.

Continued ill health has forced Mr Yeltsin to abandon plans for him to personally attend APEC.

The Russian Parliament is set to debate whether to instate Mr Putin as its Prime Minister next week.
