Is Arsonist Responsible For Ponsonby Blazes?

Ponsonby residents are wondering if they have an arsonist in their midst.

There have been two fires at an Auckland City community centre in the past month.

Last night over a dozen fire appliances were called to the Ponsonby Community Centre, the century old building was well ablaze.

It took fire fighters over an hour to control the blaze. The community centre is gutted. The centre manager says an unknown person had earlier tried to set the centre alight.

Two weeks ago, and about one kilometre away, the Freemans Bay Community Centre was almost destroyed by fire.
