Parking and Traffic for Government House Summit

New Zealand Police APEC Ops

There will be road closures on Saturday November 11, 1999 as the United States and Chinese Presidents travel to Government House for a private summit meeting.

Police spokesman Detective Senior Sergeant Allan Boreham said there will be temporary closures on the following roads.

Gillies Ave from the motorway to Owens Road
Owens Road from Gillies Ave to Mountain Road
Mountain Road from Owens Road to Glenfell Road
All of Glenfell Road, Omana Road and Savannah Road
Detective Senior Sergeant Boreham said Police are expecting these roads to be closed for short periods of up to half an hour late in the afternoon on Saturday when the motorcades arrive at Government House and again late that night when they leave.

These roads will also be unavailable for parking from midnight Friday September 10 until late on Saturday night.

"We will do our best to minimise problems. We would ask motorists to be patient and we will get them moving as fast as possible. We'll also have pointsmen on duty to assist motorists," Detective Senior Sergeant Boreham said.

Residents were notified of these closures.
