A Safe Summer 2000 For Auckland |
||
Auckland City Council - City Scene
Auckland City is backing a wide-ranging safety campaign to run through summer. Called "Safe Summer 2000", the campaign is a joint effort by nine organisations keen to promote safe and responsible behaviour in a variety of summer activities.
Auckland mayor Chris Fletcher says Aucklanders had rarely faced such an exciting array of summer events, with the America's Cup and the millennium celebrations heading the list.
"Yet these events also carry an element of risk for participants and spectators, especially given the huge audiences involved and the level of excitement generated.
"Amidst all the excitement, 'Safe Summer 2000' will carry the message that people need to take care of themselves and be conscious of the safety of others."
The organisations participating in the campaign will display the "Safe Summer 2000" logo in a wide range of communications.
Joining with Auckland City Council in the
campaign are the Land Transport Safety Authority, Alcohol
Advisory Council, Auckland Regional Council, Coastguard
Boating Education Service, Department of Conservation, NZ
Police, St John Ambulance and WaterSafe
Auckland.
