Fireworks Wizard Gears Up For Millennium

A fireworks wizard is gearing up for the biggest night of his professional career - the millennium fireworks display over the Auckland skyline.

Martin van Tiel, proprietor of Van Tiel Pyrotechnics, is preparing fireworks up to the massive 24-inch "shell". It's will be the biggest firework ever detonated in a New Zealand night sky.

The 70-kilogramme shells will be part of Fire in the Sky 2000, a joint venture display between Auckland City, North Shore City, Sky City and American Express NZ Cup Village.
