Visit by US Defense Secretary

The Minister for Defence, John Moore, will meet the US Secretary for Defense, William Cohen, in Cairns, tomorrow.

Secretary Cohen will be in Australia as part of a nine day, Southeast Asia visit.

Mr Moore and Mr Cohen will discuss security and defence issues in the region including the situation in East Timor, and the ongoing, cooperative relationship between Australia and the United States.

Minister Moore and Secretary Cohen will then travel to Darwin to meet with INTERFET troops and conduct a joint media conference at RAAF Darwin.
