ACNielsen eRatings.com Adds 74 New Clients In Third Quarter

Contracted Sales Pass USD$5 Million Mark

Continuing Expansion of Nielsen//NetRatings Delivers
Broadest Global Coverage of Internet Audiences

Auckland – October 19, 2000 – Continuing its rapid growth as the world’s leading provider of global Internet audience information, ACNielsen eRatings.com today announced that 74 new clients subscribed to the international Nielsen//NetRatings Internet audience measurement service in the third quarter, bringing the year-to-date total to 224 clients.

ACNielsen eRatings.com is a venture between ACNielsen Corporation (NYSE: ART) and NetRatings, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTRT).

Leading Clients

The advantages of the Nielsen//NetRatings service continued to attract a diverse range of clients in the quarter. Clients signing major multi-country agreements included Monster.com, Alta Vista and Microsoft. In addition, agreements were signed with major Web portals, including Lycos, Terra Networks and Scandinavia Online; BT Looksmart, a Web directory and search engine; Stepstone, an employment opportunity site; and companies, including British Telecom and NOS, the Dutch public broadcasting company.

Connors noted that ACNielsen eRatings.com signed new contracts in the third quarter valued at $2.4 million. “We have passed an important milestone, with total contracts to-date valued at a total of $5.4 million,” he said. “Advertising agencies, financial institutions, corporate marketers and Internet companies worldwide are recognizing the unique value of Nielsen//NetRatings’ accurate, timely information. We are confident that our success in growing this business worldwide is representative of the success our Internet audience measurement information will bring our clients.”

Global Reach

Nielsen//NetRatings is reporting data on Internet audience activity in the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the UK, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, France and Italy, and will soon begin delivering information from Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil and Hong Kong.

During the quarter, ACNielsen eRatings.com launched the industry’s first Internet coverage in Denmark, Finland and Norway. With coverage now in eight European countries, Nielsen//NetRatings is providing clients with the first meaningful comparisons of European Internet usage with other world regions.

In total, Nielsen//NetRatings panels now have more than 175,000 individuals under measurement, representing the world’s largest real-time Internet audience measurement panel.
