Peace Software Ships New Commodity Management
Peace Software Ships New Commodity Management As Part of Energy Version 6
New integrated component designed to improve profitability of energy retailers
Auckland – December 11, 2000 – Peace Software, a global provider of e-Business solutions for retail energy companies, today announced the release of integrated Commodity Management as part of its latest Energy™ suite to improve the profitability of energy procurement in deregulating markets.
“The act of buying energy supplies for resale can be as critical to profitability as the act of selling,” said Brian Peace, chairman and CEO at Peace Software. “The more astute an energy company is at acquiring electricity or gas at a favourable price, the more successful that company will be. Using our new Energy Commodity Management component, energy retailers will have timely and more accurate information to forecast the amount of energy they need to supply to their customers at a reasonable cost.”
Fully integrated within Peace Software’s latest Energy Version 6 suite, the Commodity Management component enables energy retailers to accurately predict their energy requirements during upcoming periods. Energy retailers can analyse internal and external data such as customer enrolments, historical customer usage patterns, interval and monthly billing, and load profiles to produce sophisticated demand forecasts. Based on projected forecasts, energy retailers can then mitigate their risk of exposure to spot prices.
Once the commodity has been delivered, Energy’s integrated demand settlement capability supports the reconciliation of transactions between market participants and produces demand forecast and settlement comparisons to improve a retail energy company’s trading operations.
“If deregulation is to become widespread throughout the U.S., then the acquisition of commodities for retail markets must be cost effective, especially in light of the recent volatility of energy prices and variability in supply,” said Jon T. Brock, director, Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Utility Services of SCIENTECH. “Accurate load forecasting, supply acquisition, and retail settlement is a core competency required for energy retailers in the newly deregulated marketplace. Peace Software is capturing a leadership position in systems for energy retailing because Energy now integrates customer and commodity management into a centrepiece of competitive advantage for clients.”
Entirely web-based, Commodity Management provides real-time, on-line decision support for participation in the wholesale trading market. The data is displayed in multiple browser report views for easier interpretation, including download and upload options. The new Energy Commodity Management component is targeted for electricity supply.
