Retail Sales Indicator: December 2000 |
||
Seasonally adjusted retail sales for December are estimated at $3,710 million according to Statistics New Zealand's Retail Sales Indicator. This early estimate suggests an increase of 0.7 per cent in the value of retail sales when compared with final sales in November.
December sales, excluding the motor vehicle sales and servicing store types, were $2,649 million, a seasonally adjusted increase of 1.3 per cent on the corresponding final November total.
The Retail Sales Indicator is derived from early responses to Statistics New Zealand's monthly Retail Trade Survey, necessitating a high level of imputation, and should be used with care. For December, imputed responses contributed 32 per cent of the published indicator. These estimates are based on the sales of other similarly sized retailers in a similar activity and location.
Final retail sales statistics for December, including the usual detailed storetype analysis, will be released on Tuesday 13 February 2001.
