There was heavy trading on the New Zealand Futures & Options Exchange today involving 7658 futures and 28 options contracts traded with a face value of NZ$3.84 billion.

The Mar-01 90 Day Bank Bill Contract settled down 3 points at 9355 (6.45%). The June-01 90 Day Bank Bill Contract settled down 10 points at 9378 (6.22%) and the Sept-01 90 Day Bank Bill Contract settled down 11 points at 9385 (6.15%). The Dec-01 90 Day Bank Bill Contract settled down 11 points at 9385 (6.15%).

The Mar-01 Three Year Government Stock Futures Contract settled down 7 points at 9403 (5.97%) and the Mar-01 Ten Year Government Stock Futures Contract settled down 6 points at 9389 (6.11%).

The March-01 NZSE-10 Share Index Futures Contract settled down 5 points at 855.

The February-01 Electricity Futures Contract closed at $33.00 M/wh.

Sky City : Auckland Convention Centre Cost Jumps By A Fifth

SkyCity Entertainment Group, the casino and hotel operator, is in talks with the government on how to fund the increased cost of as much as $130 million to build an international convention centre in downtown Auckland, with further gambling concessions ruled out. The Auckland-based company has increased its estimate to build the centre to between $470 million and $530 million as the construction boom across the country drives up building costs and design changes add to the bill.
