Fletcher Challenge Changes Name

AUCKLAND, 11 April, 2001 - Following the completion on 23 March of the transactions approved by shareholders early last month leading to the separation of the Fletcher Challenge Group, the Company today confirmed that the name of Fletcher Challenge Limited will change on Tuesday, 17 April to Fletcher Challenge Forests Limited.

This change reflects the fact that, following separation, Fletcher Challenge Forests is the sole remaining business of Fletcher Challenge Limited.

SkyCity Entertainment Group, the casino and hotel operator, is in talks with the government on how to fund the increased cost of as much as $130 million to build an international convention centre in downtown Auckland, with further gambling concessions ruled out.
