The 3M Award is awarded annually and was established in 1996. The award is made to librarians, information specialist or teams who have applied an innovative and entrepreneurial approach to their business.

Nine entries were received this year and preliminary judging has resulted in a shortlist of three. The three finalists are; Auckland Regional Council Library, Manukau Institute of Technology Library and Southland Boys’ High School Library.

Auckland Regional Council’s entry was ARCADIA the database of Auckland Regional information, which acts as a one stop bibliographic database of material on Auckland. ARCADIA is available at www.infospecs.co.nz/arc/srch.htm

Manukau Institute of Technology Library’s entry was their Get Ready Go – online PowerPoint comic strip introduction to using library resources.
