NZ Post’s Mail Service Among Best In The World

New Zealand Post’s Mail Service Among Best In The World

New Zealand Post announced today that 95.7% of mail was delivered on time during the 12 months to 30 June 2001, a result that puts service standards for mail delivery in New Zealand among the best in the world.

General Manager for Postal Delivery, Peter Fenton, said New Zealand Post’s mail service standards were ahead of those of Ireland’s An Post (88 per cent), Royal Mail (89 per cent), Australia Post (91.6 per cent), the US Postal Service (94 per cent) and Canada Post (94.3 per cent).

“We don’t claim to be perfect, but New Zealanders can have confidence that they are getting a world-class mail service from New Zealand Post.”

The 12-month mail service result, independently measured by Research International NZ Ltd, exceeds New Zealand Post’s own target of 95 per cent for on time delivery of Standard and FastPost mail.

“The result reflects the hard work of our posties, mailroom and transport staff who ensure the successful delivery of over one billion items of mail each year.”

The 2001 mail service result is the same as the 95.7 per cent recorded for the 12 months to 31 March 2000 ƒ{ the last full year measurement before New Zealand Post moved from a March to June financial year.

Standard Post has a service target of cross-town delivery the next working day and delivery within three working days for letters between urban centres. FastPost has a service target of delivery the next working day between major towns and cities across New Zealand.
