Air NZ Apology To Lufthansa German Airlin

Air New Zealand Apology To Lufthansa German Airlines

Statement made by Ralph Norris, Managing Director, Air New Zealand

Air New Zealand acknowledges a mistake in its interpretation of the phrase “ in a state of crisis” used by Lufthansa and commented on in its media statement released on Thursday, April 10.

The Air New Zealand media statement incorrectly stated that Lufthansa had issued a statement on the “financial crisis” they face.

In fact, on April 8 Lufthansa issued a statement saying it intended to declare “a state of crisis” as soon as possible in order to reduce personnel costs and limit the economic effect of the Iraq war and SARS.

Lufthansa is not in a financial crisis and Air New Zealand apologises unreservedly for any suggestion otherwise.

Lufthansa is one of the world’s most successful airlines, posting an operating profit of 718 million Euros for 2002.
