Insulation - valued antidote to avoid cold showers
Insulation - a valued antidote to avoid cold showers
The prospect of cold showers and cold houses this winter has provoked New Zealanders into improving household insulation
New Zealand’s leading insulation manufacturer, Tasman Insulation, reported today that demand for its icon Pink® Batts® range is reaching record levels.
“May was the most successful sales month on record in the 43-year history of glass wool insulation manufacturing in New Zealand. Purchases of the Pink® Batts® Hot Water Cylinder Wrap ran at 104 percent that of the same month last year while consumer demand for ceiling, wall and under floor insulation is well up on last year.
“Our production facilities at Auckland and Christchurch are operating at capacity levels. It is apparent throughout the country that the energy saving value of improved home insulation has been well accepted.
“There are also firm indications that many householders with hot water cylinders situated under floor realise that by enclosing it within a cylinder wrap they can instantly reach the 10 percent energy saving level promoted by the Winter Task Force.
“While as a company we’re obviously pleased at the sales figures there is also an element of frustration that it is not until the threat arises of home and hot water heating being cut off that such high levels of interest show out.
“The value benefits of a healthier, quieter and warmer home accompanied by significant energy savings that can give payback within two years have been well known for a long time. But the sales evidence we now have suggests that the cold home and shower factor is probably the most powerful motivation for house hold action.
“We hope that
for the long term, home owners’ awareness of the value of
installing high quality insulation when building or
renovating has been increased.”
