The Dairy Farmers of New Zealand (DFNZ) Conference and Annual General Meeting will be held at the James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor, Wellington on 2-3 June.

Items on the agenda for discussion include lessons learnt from the lower North Islands storm disaster, Fonterra’s capital structure, prescription animal remedies, traceability, pesticide controls and regional environmental issues.

Guest speakers include Andrew Ferrier, Chief Executive of Fonterra, Peter Bodeker from Dairy InSight, Kevin Wilson from National Bank, Dr Ants Roberts from Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-operative, Peter Rankin from the Consumers Institute and David Walker from Telecom.

The DFNZ Conference and AGM is sponsored by FMG, Telecom New Zealand, Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-operative, National Bank of New Zealand, ACC and Rural Post.

Sky City : Auckland Convention Centre Cost Jumps By A Fifth

SkyCity Entertainment Group, the casino and hotel operator, is in talks with the government on how to fund the increased cost of as much as $130 million to build an international convention centre in downtown Auckland, with further gambling concessions ruled out. The Auckland-based company has increased its estimate to build the centre to between $470 million and $530 million as the construction boom across the country drives up building costs and design changes add to the bill.
