Huffer Helps Fundraise For Tokoroa High After Arson Attack Destroys E-Block

Leading New Zealand clothing brand Huffer has taken the bull by the horns in an effort to raise much-needed cash to re-build Tokoroa High School.

Tokoroa High’s E-Block was the subject of an arson attack at midnight on Friday July 2nd. The block may have to be torn down completely due to the extent of the damage.

That particular block of Tokoroa High School was a 2-storey, 12 classroom building that housed unique resources such as a computer library and a facility for the education of special needs children.

Huffer’s head designer and former Tokoroa High School student, Dan Buckley, has been spending the last few weeks hard at work designing a one-off t-shirt for Tokoroa High. The t-shirt will initially be sold through Morrisseys in Tokoroa, with plans to offer the t-shirt nationwide.

Morrisseys owner Larry Sullivan says the gesture by Dan and the Huffer team will mean an immense amount to the people of Tokoroa.

Larry knows that however small or large the contribution, the Tokoroa community needs as much help as it can get to re-build what has become a focal point in the township.

“The school currently educates about 500 kids, all from Tokoroa and the surrounding small towns. The community is based around the school, with several children through family generations all attending the school through the years”.

“Dan and I were both students of Tokoroa High School, so we have an obligation to step forward and do what we can to ensure the school bounces back from this event.”

Working from a new office in Sydney, Dan Buckley has designed the Tokoroa High School ‘E-Block’ t-shirt as an evolution of an existing Huffer design that incorporated the school’s name. The by-line to the tee is ‘Tokoroa High E-Block – It Burned Down But It’s Coming Back Waaaay Badder’.
