Valuer Struck Of Property Institute Announces

The New Zealand Property Institute today announced that following disciplinary hearings Mr George Matua Evans of Tauranga has been struck off as a Registered Valuer and as a member of the New Zealand Property Institute.

Property Institute Professional Practices Chair, Earl Gordon said today, "We are here to protect the public. Unfortunately, sometimes and very rarely, we have a Registered Valuer who falls below the behaviour and practices that we expect. This is one such case, and this valuer is now no longer able to practice in New Zealand as a Registered Valuer. This is a severe sanction but it is vital to protect the New Zealand public and the standards of the valuation profession," he concluded

Registered Valuers are registered by the Valuers Registration Board and must meet minimum criteria to become registered. Once registered they must adhere to a code of ethics and now operate under mandatory minimum standards. Users of Registered Valuer services are able to lay complaints about registered valuers to the New Zealand Property Institute, which operates the disciplinary process in conjunction with the VRB.
