New Ford Territory For Olympic Champion

New Ford Territory For Olympic Champion

Sarah Ulmer had a special gift waiting for her at the airport when she arrived home from her gold medal winning Olympic campaign – a brand new Ford Territory, as a congratulatory gesture from her vehicle sponsor of six years, Ford New Zealand.

"This new vehicle is part of an ongoing sponsorship that we have with Sarah, and we thought a great way to recognize her record breaking and gold medal winning performance was to present her with the newest Ford to hit the market," said Ford Corporate Sponsorship Manager, Sarah Henderson.

Sarah's new Ford Territory – 'Zest' in colour and complete with 'ULMER' plates – is one of the first 500 Ford Territory in the country. And like Ulmer, Ford Territory is proving to be a record breaker – it has enjoyed a prolific introduction to the new car market, and has become an overnight sales success.

"I know that Sarah will enjoy the functionality and versatility that Ford Territory offers – she will have no problem carrying her bike and all her race gear inside the vehicle, or else transporting as many as seven people," added Ms. Henderson.

Ulmer was herself 'blown away' by the surprise vehicle.

"Ford and I swap cars very few months or so, but I wasn't expecting a new vehicle – let alone a new Territory – for a number of months yet," said an excited Ulmer when she collected the Ford Territory at Auckland Airport.

"It's such a buzz to win gold, but also to do it in world record time has been awesome. I've had so many faxes, emails and calls from friends, family and supporters – but to receive a new Territory from Ford is a really nice way to be welcomed home. I'm absolutely stoked!"

"I'm looking forward to the next few weeks as it will be a chance for a bit of a rest, but also an opportunity for me to get familiar with my new Ford Territory," said Ulmer.
