The Franchise Association of New Zealand (FANZ) is calling for entries in the media section of its 10th anniversary awards.

Journalists who have covered franchise related topics have until Friday 22 October to submit their articles for consideration of the media award. This award will be presented to the journalist who has produced the best coverage of a franchise story or issue. Entry forms and more information is available on the FANZ website www.franchise.org.nz

The NZ Franchise Awards 2004 - which recognises outstanding achievement by franchisor members, their franchisees and master franchisees - will be held in Auckland on November 6 and celebrated with a black tie evening gala held at the Hyatt Hotel. Simon Lord, Franchise New Zealand magazine publisher, is the principle judge and the winner will be presented with the Media Award at the event.

Sky City : Auckland Convention Centre Cost Jumps By A Fifth

SkyCity Entertainment Group, the casino and hotel operator, is in talks with the government on how to fund the increased cost of as much as $130 million to build an international convention centre in downtown Auckland, with further gambling concessions ruled out. The Auckland-based company has increased its estimate to build the centre to between $470 million and $530 million as the construction boom across the country drives up building costs and design changes add to the bill.
