Altex Wins Manufacturing Award

Altex Wins Manufacturing Award

Protective coatings market leader Altex Coatings Limited have won another manufacturing award, this time at the Westpac Tauranga Regional Business Awards.

Award judges were impressed with Altex as a “high performing business that was founded in Tauranga 50 years ago”.

They also made special mention to the management and staff’s ability to respond to “major challenges, including re-branding their pleasure marine line.

“Altex has established itself a pre-eminent position both in New Zealand and overseas, in its specialised field of protective coatings, and has maintained this position over a long period of time,” the judges comments said.

“Management has developed a strong systems focus and is performing extremely well in the areas of planning, customer focus, marketing, and quality differential.”

Altex Coatings managing director Mike O'Sullivan says he likes to enter various awards as a benchmarking exercise.

“Entering these awards helps us stay focused and striving to improve the business. Winning them gives our team that extra assurance that we are on the right track. Customers always appreciate the fact that they are already dealing with a winning company.”

In it’s 50th year, Altex Coatings has covered some high profile buildings in its protective coatings, including Te Papa, Carter Holt Harvey’s Kinleith Mill, Wellington’s BNZ Tower and the Mangere Treatment Plant. Altex also has a name for providing protective coatings for ships and fishing vessels as well as recreational cruising boats.
