Beauty queen 100-1 to win wife carrying crown

Beauty queen 100-1 to win wife carrying crown

A beauty queen that failed to succeed Jennifer Hawkins as Miss Universe is 100-1 with Centrebet to win the wackiest annual event on the sports calendar...the World Wife Carrying Championship.

Hanna Ek is the reigning Miss Finland but Centrebet, who sponsored the madcap race two years ago, thinks that Helsinki strongman Jucci will not transport the glamour girl to victory tomorrow.

"I've heard that Jucci is not a fan of the Estonian Carry that is to wife carrying what the Fosbury Flop is to high jumping," says Centrebet's Gerard Daffy. "He's too patriotic for his own good."

Estonian Carry expert Margo Uusorg and his lightweight partner, Egle Soll, are Centrebet's 4-6 favourites to win 253.5-metre race over various obstacles in the Finnish village of Sonkajarvi.
