New Chief Economist For ANZ National Bank
Cameron Bagrie has been appointed Chief Economist of ANZ National Bank. Mr Bagrie has been a key member of the Bank’s economics division for the past seven years -including almost five years with The National Bank - providing macroeconomic analysis, forecasts and commentary on economic developments. Most recently, he was Head of Market Economics and Strategy.
He has been Acting Chief Economist since February, when his predecessor, John McDermott, was appointed Associate Professor, School of Economics and Finance, Victoria University.
In his new role as Chief Economist, Mr Bagrie will focus on the relationship with the Bank’s markets business and providing value-added insights both internally and to the Bank's customers. Before working at ANZ National Bank and The National Bank, he was an economist for the New Zealand Treasury, where he advised Governments and various Ministers of Finance on policy and macroeconomic issues.
