Power outages
due to snow
Update 4.00 p.m., Thursday 15 June 2006
Line crews have made excellent progress in restoring power in central Canterbury today. The number of customers without power has dropped from 2000 last night to 1000 this evening.
Orion is monitoring forecasts indicating the possibility of more snow in the coming days. We can now report that customers in high country areas near Arthurs Pass and Castle Hill have largely had their power supplies restored.
For further information, refer to the map of affected areas on www.oriongroup.co.nz
