2006 House of the Year and Commercial Project Award finalists announced

2006 House of the Year and RMB Commercial Awards Gold Reserve finalists were announced today, highlighting the quality of workmanship throughout New Zealand by registered master builders. Supported by principal sponsor PlaceMakers, 2006 marks the 16th year of this prestigious competition.

These Gold Reserve finalists have been selected from 703 entrants in 20 local competitions held in May, June and July 2006.

Registered Master Builders Federation chief executive Pieter Burghout said the awards provide a national benchmark that builders can use to promote their business and that consumers can recognise and trust.

“These Gold Reserve winners represent the very best in New Zealand’s building industry and the judges will have a tough job selecting the national winners in each category, the PlaceMakers Supreme Award (House of the Year), and the RMB Commercial Project of the year,” Mr Burghout said.

David Worley, chief executive of principal sponsor PlaceMakers said these awards demonstrate the consistently high level of workmanship delivered by registered master builders.

“We had a record number of entries this year, reflecting the professionalism of the industry and the commitment builders share with us in striving for building excellence. It’s also great to see some companies with two to three properties in the top 100,” he said.

National judging takes place in September and October to determine winners in each category, to be announced at a gala dinner at Auckland’s SkyCity Convention Centre on 28 October.
