ASB Business To Launch Podcasts

TVNZ with the support of ASB, is taking a step into the future of broadcasting by launching New Zealand's first free daily podcast of its morning programme, ASB BUSINESS.

The programme will be available to view on video-capable iPods with audio available for both iPods and MP3 players.

The podcasts are another move by TVNZ to offer viewers programming content on multiple platforms so New Zealanders are able to access local shows from a variety of sources.

"This is another very exciting development within TVNZ that takes us closer to our ambition for the new digital era – which is that TVNZ content will be found wherever and whenever people want it," says TVNZ's Chief Executive Rick Ellis.

'ASB is recognised as providing our customers with innovative service solutions through technology and is delighted to support TVNZ in bringing ASB BUSINESS to its audience via podcast. This provides a wonderful opportunity for anyone who wants the convenience of accessing business and financial updates anywhere, anytime," says ASB's Head of Relationship Banking and Financial Services, James Mitchell.

Viewers will be able to access excerpts of ASB BUSINESS – including interviews with Michael Wilson, market reports and feature stories from within the programme.

The video can be viewed and downloaded from keyword: ASB BUSINESS. Viewers can automatically download all available content or just specific segments to their iPod or MP3 player from approximately 8.30am onwards, each weekday morning.

"TVNZ was the first to offer live streaming online, and we're the first to offer free, 5 days a week programming on iPod and MP3," says Rick Ellis. "This is undoubtedly increasing our value as New Zealand's television public broadcaster."

The podcasts are available in MP4 video format which is compatible with the video-capable iPods and the audio files are available in MP3 format which is compatible with all portable audio MP3 players. The audio and video files can be downloaded using Apple iTunes software.
