Transit Update

CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 11 November until Thursday 16 November Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.

CMJ Stage 2 Full motorway closures: Sunday 12 until Thursday 16 November - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Southern Motorway (SH1) between Symonds/Port/Wellesley St off-ramp and Fanshawe St on-ramp northbound

Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 November - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning: * Southern Motorway (SH1) between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp southbound

Ramp and link closures: Saturday 11 November - CLOSED - during the day and overnight from 5pm until 5am Monday 13 November: * Newton Rd on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

Sunday 12 until Thursday 16 November - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Wellington St on-ramp to Northern Motorway (SH1) northbound * Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16 link) westbound * Southern Motorway (SH1) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound

Sunday 12 until Thursday 16 November - CLOSED - overnight from 8.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Western Springs on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) citybound

Sunday 12 until Tuesday 14 November - CLOSED - overnight from 10pm until 5am the following morning: * Grafton on-ramp to Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound

Sunday 12, Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 November - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning: * Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound

Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 November - CLOSED - overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Hobson St on-ramp to Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound

Monday 13 until Thursday 16 November - CLOSED - overnight from 8.30pm until 5am the following morning: * Newton Rd on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

Monday 13 until Wednesday 15 November - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning: * Northwestern Motorway to Southern Motorway (SH16 to SH1) link southbound * Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Port link portbound

Tuesday 14 until Thursday 16 November - CLOSED - overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning: * Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp citybound

Note 1: When the Nelson St off-ramp from SH16 is closed the links to the Southern Motorway (SH1) and the Port (SH16) will remain open and vice versa.

Note 2: When the Newton Rd off-ramp from SH16 is closed the Nelson St off-ramp will remain open and vice versa.

During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.

Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.

In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.

The CMJ Project Stage 1 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit's Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.
