Chamber Welcomes Code-share Decision

Chamber Welcomes Code-share Decision

The Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce has welcomed today's decision by Air New Zealand and Qantas to withdraw their application for the code-share.

“The Chamber has argued that the code-share, or Tasman Networks Agreement, had the potential to jeopardise Wellington’s external links by making it more expensive to travel and reducing the opportunities to fly between Wellington and Australia,” said Chamber Chief Executive, Charles Finny.

“The joint decision not to pursue the code-share means competition on the routes will be retained. We believe competition is the best way to deliver cost effective customer services and is also ultimately in the best interests of the airlines.

“The Chamber looks forward to working with the airlines to ensure that the Wellington-Australia markets are as successful and profitable as possible,” Mr Finny concluded.
