2007 National Yearling Sales Series Launched

New Zealand Bloodstock Launches 2007 National Yearling Sales Series

Catalogues for New Zealand Bloodstock's 81st National Yearling Sales Series to be held from 29 January to 4 February 2007 are set to go in the post to all prospective buyers from today.

A total of 1362 yearlings have been catalogued across the first three sessions of the 2007 Sales Series. The Premier Sale features 459 yearlings across two days of selling on 29 & 30 January; the Select Sale then continues with 593 yearlings catalogued for sale from 2pm on 31 January to 2 February; and the one-day Festival Sale concludes the week with 310 yearlings offered on Sunday 4 February.

In addition, over 200 yearlings will be offered at the one-day Carnival Sale held during the Auckland Racing Club's Cup week in March.

This year's Karaka Premier Sale features 16 yearlings out of Group 1 winning mares and 26 yearlings that are full or half-siblings to Group 1 winners. Amongst these are the first colts to auction from champion racemares Sunline (a colt by Zabeel, offered by Cambridge Stud) and Ethereal (a colt by Stravinsky, offered by Pencarrow Stud). The catalogue also features close relatives to top performers including Don Eduardo, Gee I Jane, Jokers Wild, Headturner, Mi Jubilee, Miss Potential, Lachlan River, Perlin, Russian Pearl, St Reims, Zagalia, and many more.

"We are very pleased with the selection on offer at the Premier Sale in January, with some exciting stars amongst a quality catalogue that we think boasts strength and depth to appeal to a wide range of buyers," said New Zealand Bloodstock Marketing & Public Relations Manager, Petrea Vela.

Launched in June this year, the race, which carries Restricted Listed status, is to be hosted by the Northern Cluster of Clubs at Auckland Racing Club's Ellerslie Racecourse. The first running of the race will take place on Sunday 27 January 2008, the day prior to the 2008 Premier Sale at Karaka. The entry process has been made easy with buyers able to 'sign-up' their purchases on the fall of the hammer.

The dates for the 81st National Yearling Sales Series are as follows:

Premier Sale: 29 & 30 January

Select Yearling: 31 January to 2 February

Festival Sale: 4 February

Carnival Sale: 9 March

Catalogues will be sent out from today. The Premier Sale catalogue is also now online, with the Select and Festival catalogues appearing online from tomorrow (Wednesday). Carnival Sale catalogues will be out the first week of February. To request a catalogue or make hotel bookings in Auckland, please email recp[at] or phone +64 9 298 0055.
