Briscoe Group: Two new retail stores

News release – for immediate release Friday 8 December 2006

Briscoe Group

Briscoe Group Limited announces the opening of two new retail stores at The Hub complex, Whakatane, owned by the Multiplex NZ Property Fund.

Briscoes Homeware and Rebel Sport are planned to open in March/April 2007.

Rebel Sport is a 775m2 store with a wide range of sporting goods, apparel, footwear and exercise equipment. Special emphasis will be placed on fishing gear and water sports given the local environment and popularity of these pastimes. Rebel Sport will create employment with up to 30 new full and part-time staff required for the store. This is a new region for Rebel Sport to enter; previously the nearest stores available to customers would be Rotorua or Tauranga.

Briscoes Homeware is relocating to The Hub from central Whakatane and will be opening a new format 2150m2 store. This will offer loyal customers more convenient shopping in a fresh new layout, along with easy access and plenty of free parking. Customers can shop by zone - such as dining, bedroom, bath, kitchen and living - and will enjoy a vast range of homewares with quality brands such as Noritake and Scanpan.

Briscoe Group has committed to The Hub as it will be the dominant bulk retail destination in Whakatane. The Hub stage 1 is 5.5 hectares with 18,000sqm of high profile retail space over 700 car parks featuring extensive landscaped and paved areas. It is strategically located on SH 30 which is the main arterial carrying traffic to Whakatane from the North. The site is located on the Northern side of the Whakatane river with the main access point off a roundabout on the Gateway Drive intersection.
