New Zealand Company takes a lucrative Manufacturing contract off a China company

baby star, a baby accessories company based in Portland, Oregon, is proud to announce a new partnership with Preston International Manufactures of Cariboo of New Zealand. baby star was selected as the first brand to manufacture decorative insert bags for the Cariboo Classic Bassinet. The program has been a success in the USA and both Cariboo and baby star wanted to expand the offerings of products and introduce the products to the New Zealand and Australia markets. During this same time period, baby star moved their manufacturing over to China and needed to find a overseas manufacturer for these products. After reviewing the options, baby star awarded the manufacturing to Cariboo rather than their factory in China.

“The decision was easy to manufacture in New Zealand,” said Dana Johnson, designer and founder of baby star. “Carol McGeady and the Cariboo team are highly skilled at manufacturing and offer competitive rates as well as flexible minimum quantities. We were ecstatic to award them the manufacturing business as they are intimate with the product fit for each of their unique designs. Additionally, we feel Carol is our strategic partner and we are excited to grow our business with her successes in the New Zealand and Australia markets.”

baby star has designed three unique fabrics that will be used exclusively on the Cariboo products. Manufacturing will begin in New Zealand in early April and the products will launch in the USA at the JPMA show in Orlando, Florida.

Preston International is based in a small rural town Rangiora just north of Christchurch. Carol McGeady owner designs and Manufactures, Cariboo Branded products for NZ, Australia ,USA and Canada. Cariboo is made from Southland Pine, which is then finished to a high standard then exported.
