Partingtons Starts Wine-Maker Dinner Series

Partingtons at the Langham is starting a wine-maker dinner series celebrating some of New Zealand's top wine producers.

The concept behind the series is to provide diners with a one-on-one opportunity to talk with some of the country's top wine-makers and to provide an occasion where guests can learn about how particular wines are made and how special characteristics are derived. Most importantly it's about having fun and enjoying good food and good wine.

Partingtons sommelier Josselin de Gesincourt says: "Not everyone can visit the vineyard, so the vineyard is coming to us bringing with them the products from their vines to enhance our food."

Vin Alto wine-maker dinner, 4 April 2007
The first dinner in the wine-maker series is with boutique family-owned vineyard Vin Alto owner and wine-maker Enzo Bettio at 7.00pm on Wednesday 4 April 2007. Partingtons will serve a special Italian influenced six-course menu with matching wines for $165 per person.

Enzo will detail his wine-making style which is unique to New Zealand recreating the ancient method by which the Romans made wine from dried grapes. This also ensure's Vin Alto's wines have very few preservatives and sulphur (a substance which can cause an adverse reaction for some people) and in most instances only the natural yeasts indigenous to the Vin Alto vineyards are allowed to carry out the fermentation of the juice to wine.
