19 March 2007

InternetNZ supports NetSafe with strategic partnership agreement Media Release

InternetNZ (The Internet Society of New Zealand) has formed a strategic partnership with NetSafe (The Internet Safety Group), expanding further its historical support for the organisation.

InternetNZ has previously provided sponsorship and grants for specific NetSafe educational projects. For the next three years InternetNZ will provide funding of $100,000 per year as part of the partnership agreement.

Executive director Keith Davidson says the strategic partnership is an important investment in the future of the Internet in New Zealand.

“InternetNZ supports NetSafe's efforts to improve safety in the cyber-world. New Zealanders benefit substantially from NetSafe's direct services to children and adult consumers and businesses, its involvement with educational and government organisations and community groups, and its global thought-leadership.”

NetSafe executive director Martin Cocker says NetSafe is pleased to have InternetNZ onboard as a strategic partner. “Their support will enable us to accelerate the development of several important cybersafety initiatives.”

NetSafe is an independent non-profit organisation with members from the Ministry of Education, New Zealand Police, the Judiciary, Department of Internal Affairs, community organisations, businesses, parents and students. www.netsafe.org.nz
