Wireless Tech Award Winner Set to Take on World

Wireless Technology Award Winner Set to Take on the World

A New Zealand company is set to take on some of the world’s leading wireless technology innovations following success in the inaugural New Zealand 3G A-List awards held in Wellington last night.

I.T.Link’s SalesLink Mobile solution, which replaces the traditional docket book with an easy to use handheld mobile computer system, won out over six other mobile technology solutions.

The awards, sponsored by Telecom, Alcatel-Lucent and QUALCOMM, were set up to recognise New Zealand companies developing new products and services using 3G CDMA wireless technology. Entrants were judged on innovation and creativity, overall business impact, and quantifiable return on investment.

Judges cited the productivity gains achieved by companies using the SalesLink Mobile solution system; as well it’s compatibility with most accounting systems and its overall ease of implementation as reasons for the win.

“I.T. Link has developed an innovative, clever but simple application that would seem to have global appeal,” said judge Rob Hart, Country Manager Australia and New Zealand for QUALCOMM.

As a result of winning the New Zealand awards, SalesLink Mobile will receive a video case study of their solution, a Treo Smartphone and a return trip to a major international wireless conference including one return airfare, accommodation and registration fees.

Chris Coughlan, Vice President, Wireless Networks Australasia for Alcatel-Lucent, said his company was delighted to be able to help display Kiwi ingenuity and innovation to the world.

“The awards have been a great celebration of the industry talent that resides in New Zealand.”

Telecom’s Head of Mobile Products, Jason Foden said the growth of 3G CDMA technology, provided huge opportunities for local software developers, and the high standard of entries in the local awards demonstrated once again that New Zealand companies were more than capable of meeting those opportunities.

New Zealand Trade & Enterprise ICT sector manager Prashant Belwalkar, another of the Awards’ judges, said innovation is “the key word” in mobile data, and the New Zealand 3G A-List awards would hopefully become a benchmark for Kiwi companies working in wireless technology.

Finalists for the 2007 New Zealand 3G A-List Awards were: Blackbay, Econz, Fronde, I.T. Link, M-Com, SolNet Solutions and Orbiz.

The New Zealand 3G A-List Awards are sponsored by Telecom, Alcatel-Lucent and QUALCOMM.
