Toastmasters New Zealand presents 2007 Award

Toastmasters New Zealand presents the 2007 Communication and Leadership Award to Tony Christiansen of Tauranga.

At its Annual Convention in Hamilton this weekend, Toastmasters New Zealand, the leading movement devoted to making effective oral communication a worldwide reality, will present Tony Christiansen with its Annual Award, the Communication and Leadership Award for 2007, for his outstanding work and efforts in taking leadership and communication skills to the community around New Zealand. This award is presented each year to a person who makes an outstanding contribution to New Zealand in the field of communication and leadership. previous winners have been of the ilk of Sir Edmund Hillary, Peter Blake and most recently Professor Paul Callahan.

Tony Christiansen, after a horrific railway accident left him without legs at the age of nine he has faced life head on creating challenges and success as;

* A husband and father of three children

* A successful businessman

* A qualified lifeguard with over 33 rescues to his name

* Second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do

* Motor Racing and speedway race car champion

* Gold medal winning athlete

* New Zealand's first disabled pilot to learn and fly solo

* Climbed Africa's highest mountain, Kilimanjaro

* Best selling a author

* Inspirational Speaker

No wonder a whole chapter in the best selling book 'Success in New Zealand Business' has been devoted to Tony as Managing Director and owner of a leading sign-writing company. He has spoken to some of our leading companies, in Westpac, Guardian Assurance, Prudential Assurance, and NZ Lotteries Commission.
