Harcourts Begins Marketing Day Spa

24 July 2007

Harcourts Begins Marketing Much Anticipated $60M Waipara Wine Village & Day Spa

Marketing for the prestigious and much anticipated $60 million Waipara Wine Village & Day Spa is being launched this week following the appointment of Harcourts Grenadier consultants Greg Luxton and Grant Mitchell.

The company behind the upmarket development is one of New Zealand’s leading property investment companies, Latitude Group, which has designed the four-and-a-half-star 132 room hotel experience including full conference facilities, a wine bar and restaurant, international alehouse, wine-tasting facilities and a luxury day spa. The resort will be managed by Accor under its Grand Mercure hotel brand.

Set on 6.4 hectares of prime wine growing Waipara land, (40 minutes drive North of Christchurch) amongst a backdrop of vineyards and picturesque North Canterbury hills, the resort also includes 40 hotel suites and 40 villas which Harcourts begins marketing this week priced $295,000 to $1.2 million, plus GST if any.

Mr Luxton noted that the Hurunui area had been growing as a tourist destination in line with the huge growth in the local winery sector which now boasted just on 80 vineyards. “Situated on the Main Highway opposite the Hanmer Springs turn-off, the Waipara Wine Village & Day Spa is the third significant ‘apex’ to complete the Alpine Pacific Tourism Triangle along with the other two ‘apexes’ of the world-renowned Kaikoura and Hanmer Springs.”

With anticipation having built over the last six months since the development was announced, there has already been significant buying interest with Mr Luxton and Mr Mitchell working with local through to overseas enquiries including both those looking to secure a holiday base or investment option.

With the project due for completion early 2009, activity is expected to commence shortly which visitors to the site office will be able to observe.
