Sir Robertson Stewart

Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association (CMA) Media Release
14 August 2007.

Sir Robertson Stewart

The Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association (CMA) says that Sir Robertson Stewart was a manufacturing pioneer who made a huge contribution to the Association and the development of manufacturing sector over many years

Sir Robertson served on the CMA’s Council continuously between 1948 and 1998, was President from 1961 to 1963 and became a Life Member of the CMA in 1976 in recognition of his service to the Association and manufacturing in Canterbury and New Zealand.

“PDL was one of New Zealand’s industrial leaders and contributed so much to the local and national economy. Sir Robertson led the way by focusing on building exports and markets offshore and good deal of the skill, knowledge and innovation that exists in today’s manufacturing sector has its origins in the PDL era”, says Chief Executive John Walley.

“Sir Robertson was one the pioneers and is another great loss to the industrial sector in Canterbury and New Zealand”.
