Mark had the nuts to wear SNICKERS knickers

Thousands of New Zealanders have been intrigued by a new advertising campaign featuring an alluring Kiwi bloke modelling an array of saucy lingerie for men.

The campaign for fake company Lingerie 4 Men, features Aucklander Mark Hathaway, stripped down to a sexy, red bra and panty set complete with suspender belt and stockings – all in the name of having some nuts.

Mark was one of 27 who auditioned last month for the lead role in a Colenso BBDO campaign for popular chocolate bar, SNICKERS. The campaign is a follow on from the Mr T ads which, challenged guys to get some nuts by enjoying a delicious SNICKERS bar full of roasted peanuts, creamy caramel and soft nougat covered in thick milk chocolate. This latest campaign challenged Kiwi blokes to ‘get some nuts’ by creating a fake company that would take some seriously huge nuts to front.

Potential stars came along to the auditions after been scouted on the street, unaware they were auditioning for Lingerie 4 Men. The audition process generated a surprising amount of interest from brave Kiwi blokes seeking their 15 minutes of fame. Several of the guys agreed to be the Lingerie 4 Men spokesman without knowing the campaigns connection to SNICKERS.

The selection was something the judging team struggled with says Colenso’s Creative Director Richard Maddocks.

“We were surprised at the amount of guys who turned up and were prepared to model the risqué attire for us,” he says.

“There was a lot of talent but at the end of the day Mark possessed the x-factor plus he looked saucy in the underwear - for a bloke.”

First of its kind in New Zealand, the advertising campaign received a huge amount of interest from the public. To date, the website had over 15,696 unique visitors in one week, the ads were viewed over 1,000 times on You Tube and people talked about it on blogs and websites all over the world. We even received emails asking when the products would be available for sale.

It’s clear that this advertising campaign has attracted widespread attention from the general public, and Mark is certainly relishing in his newfound fame.
